The Playhouse will open a half-hour prior to performance time. Arrive early to pick up tickets and avoid small-town parking congestion. You can peruse our concessions and merchandise stand, or stroll around the historic Pennsylvania Chautauqua neighborhood.

We have many great snacks available for sale. We ask that you do not bring outside food or beverages.

Turn Off Your Devices

Phones and electronic devices must be turned off, and texting is not allowed during the performance.  No photography or recording devices are permitted during the performance, but before and after the show, if you snap a great photo, we'd love to see it.  Just tag #gretnatheatre or @gretnatheatre.

Our Theater is Open Air

Part of what makes Gretna Theatre so special is the beautiful Mount Gretna Playhouse. Our theater is fully covered from the sun and rain and is open on three sides. In the warmer weather, we have large industrial overhead fans, roof coverage, and the surrounding trees help maintain comfort, but it can get warm.

Will shows be cancelled due to weather?

As they say in the business, “The show must go on” - Gretna Theatre is completely covered and only open to the outdoors on the rear wall, which is protected by outdoor curtains. So come rain or shine to see incredible theatre!
