Theatre FAQ

THEATRE FAQs

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

The Playhouse will open a half-hour prior to performance time. Arrive early to pick up tickets and avoid small-town parking congestion.  You can peruse our concessions and merchandise stand, or stroll around the historic Pennsylvania Chautauqua neighborhood.

CAN I GET A REFUND OR EXCHANGE?

Actors hate empty seats and we do too! Subscribers may exchange for another date of the same show for free.  Individual Ticket buyers may exchange for another date of the same show for a $5 exchange fee, plus any applicable upgrade based on the cost of the new ticket. We do not offer refunds on tickets.  Unused tickets are able to be donated back to the theatre for a tax-deductible donation.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Come as you are and be yourself! We do not have a dress code and encourage comfortable, cooler casual wear because it's summertime and our theatre is open to the air.

IS THE THEATRE AIR CONDITIONED?

No, however massive industrial overhead fans, roof coverage, and the surrounding trees help maintain comfort.

ARE THERE CONCESSIONS AVAILABLE?

Yes. Purchase snacks and beverages before/during your visit at the concessions stand, and the revenue supports Gretna Theatre directly.

WHAT ABOUT MY PHONE?
Phones and electronic devices must be turned off, and texting is not allowed during the performance.  No photography or recording devices are permitted during the performance, but before and after the show, if you snap a great photo, we'd love to see it.  Just tag #gretnatheatre or @gretnatheatre.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER?

Nothing!  The show goes on - Gretna Theatre is completely covered and only open to the outdoors on the rear wall, which is protected by outdoor curtains.

HOW DO I BECOME A VOLUNTEER USHER?

For information on our Gretna Branches Volunteer program, view the Volunteer page or call our Administrative Offices.

DO YOU HAVE GROUP DISCOUNTS?

We offer discounts for groups of 10 or more starting at 10% off and up. Learn more here.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

There is a free parking lot a short walk in front of the theatre directly off Rt. 117.  Make sure to arrive with enough time to walk to the Playhouse.  For your convenience, you may drop off members of your party in front of the box office and then secure parking.  Parking attendants will help guide the way.

ARE THERE RESTAURANTS NEAR THE THEATRE?

There are a few restaurants located within walking distance of the theatre. Some of them offer discounts to subscribers.  For a list of restaurants scroll up on this page.

IS THE THEATRE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Yes.  There are also a few handicapped parking spots behind and directly beside the theatre on Pennsylvania Ave.  We also have select seats for wheelchairs.
